The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Limpopo (UL), Professor Mahlo Mokgalong, congratulates the 2025 cohort of Accounting students on their sterling performance in the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC), formerly the Initial Test of Competence.
UL students achieved an overall pass rate of 91 percent, against the national average of 70 percent (for first time Black African candidates), and 80 percent, against the national average of 64 percent (for repeat Black African candidates), respectively.
This has given further impetus to the growing reputation of UL’s industry-accredited qualifications.
On the eve of UL’s Autumn Graduations, Prof Mokgalong congratulated the students, calling their achievement “a momentous occasion and further testament to the rigour and excellence of the university’s concerted efforts at ensuring a programme qualification mix that is both industry-aligned and competitive”.
“To combat the current wave of unemployment requires suitably qualified and ethical professionals who can play their part meaningfully”, Prof Mokgalong said.
He also thanked the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Management and Law, Prof Omphemetse Sibanda, and his team for their stewardship.
