Presidential Youth Employment Stimulus Programme 2025 at Reakgona Disability Centre

The Department of Higher Education and Training (the Department) is participating in the Presidential Youth Employment Stimulus (PYES) programme, which is a government programme coordinated by the Presidency. The programme seeks to provide temporary employment opportunities for young graduates from universities who have not been able to find employment, and also offer opportunities for graduates to gain useful experience in a range of areas that can improve their readiness for employment and open up career pathways that may not have been available without work experience.

In response to this call, Reakgona Disability Centre (RDC) hereby invites those who qualify to apply for Internship positions at the Centre in the following service areas:

  • Computer Laboratory
  • Audio-Braille library
  • Braille Section
  • Admin office
  • Reception

The Centre will provide interns with an opportunity to work in the service areas mentioned above on a fixed-term basis for six months. Please note that the period of internship is six months, and it cannot be renewed. Each graduate selected for the program will receive a monthly stipend of R5000.00 (inclusive) for the duration of their contract.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  1. South African
  2. Unemployed Youth (age 18 – 35 years)
  3. Graduate from the University of Limpopo
  4. Preference will be given to disabled learners where possible
  5. Equitable Gender representation
  6. Required Minimum Qualification:
    6.1Computer Laboratory – (IT/Computer Science Degree or any IT-related degree)
    6.2 Audio-Braille library (Min Degree in Information Studies/ Post Graduate Diploma in Information Studies)
    6.3 Braille Section (Any Bachelor of Arts Degree)
    6.4 Admin office (Bachelor of Administration)
    6.5 Reception (Bachelor of Administration)

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist RDC in running its projects; more specifically, to ensure that each centre’s service area into which the successful candidate has been appointed qualitatively serves its clientele.
  • NB: The successful candidate must attend the initial training to be arranged by the Centre at the right time to fully qualify for the position. Applicants should be empathetic towards students with disabilities to allow for a favourable situation that promotes mutuality between them and these students.
