The Centre for Academic Excellence (CAE) at the University of Limpopo is looking for senior students to apply for the Supplemental Instruction (SI) programme. Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an internationally recognized programme that provides support to students in historically challenging modules. The programme recruits, trains, and appoints students who have performed well in the module and are willing to assist those coming after them by conducting SI sessions and attending student classes.
The Supplemental Instruction (SI) programme will develop and improve the leadership skills, communication skills, facilitation skills, and problem–solving skills of SI Leaders. The leader will obtain a SI certificate and fortify their curriculum vitae.
Minimum Requirements
- You must have passed all your modules with at least 60%
- First-year modules: SI Leader must be registered for a second year or higher
- Second-year module: SI Leader must be registered for the third year or higher
- Third-year module: SI Leader must be registered for a fourth year or Honours or higher
- Must be able to attend at least 50% of the classes for the module in which you are appointed
- Applicants should be fully registered and possess a good academic record
- Mentorship experience will be added advantage
NB: THE CANDIDATE MUST NOT BE ATTACHED TO ANY CAE STUDENT SUPPORT UNIT
Duties:
- To conduct SI sessions
- To attend at least 50% of the classes for the module
- Attend SI-related activities/workshop
