World Intellectual Property Organization-South Africa Summer School on Intellectual Property and Transfer of Technology

The University of Limpopo in partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy, the Department of Science and Innovation (through the National Intellectual Property Management Office) and the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition) will host a hybrid World Intellectual Property Organization Summer School on intellectual property and technology transfer.

The programme provides an opportunity for local and international senior students and young professionals to acquire a deeper knowledge of each domain of intellectual property (IP) and the role and functions of WIPO. The purpose of WIPO is for students to gain an acute appreciation of the role of IP as a tool for economic, social, cultural, and technological development. The programme is implemented over a two-week period and consists of lecturers, case studies, simulation exercises and group discussions on selected IP and TT topics, with an orientation towards an interface between IP and other disciplines. The Summer School’s programme also focuses on issues pertaining to the management and commercialisation of IP.

The event will take place as follows:

Date: 21 November 2022 – 02 December 2022
Time: 08H00
Venue: Language Lab, University of Limpopo
