Welcome to the Centre for Rural Community Empowerment, where we uplift and strengthen rural communities through sustainable development initiatives.
What We Do
At our centre, we believe in fostering inclusive growth, empowering local residents, and enhancing livelihoods in rural areas.
Through collaborative efforts with community leaders, governmental agencies, and non-profit organisations, we strive to implement impactful projects that address key challenges faced by rural communities. Our focus areas include economic empowerment, access to education and healthcare, environmental sustainability, and social welfare.
At the Centre for Rural Community Empowerment, we are committed to creating lasting positive change and promoting self-reliance among rural populations. Join us as we work together to build resilient communities and achieve sustainable development goals for a brighter future.
The CRCE has a mandate to:
(1) Offer Agricultural Extension (honours and master’s programmes) under the Department of Agricultural Economics and Animal Production. The Agricultural Extension postgraduate programmes curriculum is developed in attempt to improve the students’ social knowledge and soft skills towards working with rural communities
(2) Offer internships to postgraduate students to work with rural communities in order to generate, transmit, apply and preserve knowledge to solve problems in rural communities. Working closely with UL academic staff, government departments, private institutions, parastatals, non-governmental organisations, and other rural development agencies, CRCE develops community outreach programmes relevant to rural communities in the Limpopo Province
(3) Support research activities conducted by interns and other researchers to collaborate in finding solutions to the problems and developing innovations to enhance rural livelihoods.
