The Nelson Mandela Museum, in partnership with the Limpopo Department of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture and the University of Limpopo, proudly presents the 04th Annual African Liberation Heritage Indaba. This significant gathering will take place from 15 to 16 October 2025, starting at 09:00, at the University of Limpopo.
This year’s Indaba is held under the thought-provoking theme, “Re-imagination of transformative and emancipatory purpose of cultural institutions in South Africa.” The theme calls on cultural practitioners, scholars, and community leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue on how cultural institutions can be repositioned to drive transformation, empowerment, and social cohesion in the modern South African context.
The Indaba will feature dynamic discussions, presentations, and exchanges aimed at preserving Africa’s liberation heritage while inspiring new visions for the future. It serves as a vital platform for reflection, collaboration, and innovation in honouring the legacy of African liberation movements and their enduring impact on our identity and collective consciousness.
To ensure inclusivity and wider participation, the event will also be live-streamed, LINK.
Interested participants are encouraged to RSVP to reserve their seats at unathi@nelsonmandelamuseum.org.za, while media representatives may RSVP through fumanekile@nelsonmandelamuseum.org.za.
Join us at the University of Limpopo as we continue finding solutions for Africa through cultural dialogue, shared heritage, and transformative action.
