Welcome to the School of Accountancy

“Behind every thriving economy is a mind that gives numbers a voice, transforms figures into foresight, challenges into opportunity. We are not just training accountants but value-creators, ethical citizens, and digitally savvy leaders of change.”

Accounting is often called the universal language of business, and business drives economies and livelihoods. Our programmes are designed to develop the next generation of business leaders and decision-makers.

We offer degree pathways that prepare students to become Chartered Accountants (SAICA), Registered Auditors (IRBA), Chartered Global Management Accountants (CIMA), and Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA).

Along the way, you’ll gain essential transferable skills, such as leadership, critical and creative thinking, interpersonal and entrepreneurial abilities, all within a stimulating, supportive learning environment.

Our SAICA-endorsed Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy (PGDA) ranks among the nation’s best, consistently achieving exceptional pass rates in the SAICA Initial Assessment of Competency (IAC). Admission to this prestigious programme requires strong performance in our Bachelor of Accountancy or Bachelor of Commerce Honours degrees.

We partner closely with leading employers, including accounting firms and banks, to deliver Work-Integrated Learning opportunities. These experiences bridge the gap between theory and practice, offering students an authentic understanding of the professional workplace.

Community engagement is central to our mission. Through meaningful projects, our students identify societal challenges and design sustainable solutions, developing as socially conscious citizens.

For those pursuing advanced scholarship, we offer Master of Commerce and Doctor of Commerce degrees focused on impactful research. These programmes cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, driving knowledge creation aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and South Africa’s National Development Plan.

We are confident that the qualifications offered within the School of Accountancy will equip you for life itself.
