WHY CHOOSE HUMANITIES

Welcome to the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Limpopo. The global landscape of higher education is undergoing a profound transformation driven by rapid technological advancements, evolving demographics, and economic shifts.
As the Executive Dean, I invite you to join a Faculty that refuses to simply react to modern market and neo-liberal forces. Instead, we are actively reshaping our future. We have aligned our vision to serve as a “dynamic beacon of hope for human and social development,” anchoring everything we do in our institutional motto: “Finding Solutions for Africa.”
Why Choose Humanities with Us?
A university is a rare and sacred space designed for you to gain knowledge, debate deeply, and interrogate the reality around you. Choosing our Faculty means embarking on a transformative journey that weaves rich African traditions, histories, and philosophies into a modern, forward-looking education. We believe that a 21st-century knowledge society must fully include the African experience across literature, language, philosophy, art, education, and politics.
Our updated Strategic Plan (2025–2029) ensures that your education is community-driven, digitally enabled, and globally engaged. When you study with us, you benefit from a holistic, student-centric ecosystem focused on excellence:
- A Digitally Enabled Academic Environment: We are actively optimising our systems to enhance your online registration, academic tracking, and digital student support services.
- Cutting-Edge Blended Learning: You will experience innovative, accredited, and reviewed programmes delivered through modern blended teaching, learning, and assessment models.
- Comprehensive Student Support: We are committed to your holistic success through expanding peer mentorship, Supplemental Instruction, the Reading and Writing Centre, and specialised language laboratory training.
- An Unwavering Commitment to Safety and Inclusion: In partnership with University divisions, we actively drive campaigns and training to ensure a safe workspace and learning environment free from gender-based violence and sexual harassment. We also champion diversity, proudly partnering with the Reakgona Disability Centre (RDC) to support students living with conditions such as albinism.
