2026 Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD) Annual Conference: Call for Abstracts

The Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD) Central Office invites all scholars, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students from both the Global South and North to submit their abstracts for the 2026 SANORD Annual Conference. This prestigious gathering provides a platform for diverse voices to engage in meaningful dialogue, share innovative ideas, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge across regions.

The 2026 conference will be hosted by the University of Namibia (UNAM) in Mercure Hotel, Windhoek, Namibia . Bringing together participants from multiple disciplines, the event seeks to foster collaboration and critical reflection under the overarching theme, “Reimagining Knowledge for Shared Development.” This theme underscores the importance of co-creating knowledge systems that are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to contemporary global challenges.

Scheduled to take place from 22 to 25 September 2026, the conference will feature paper presentations, poster sessions, roundtable discussions, symposia, and workshops. Scholars and practitioners are encouraged to engage with the conference sub-themes, which range from health and well-being to global citizenship, digital transformation, and sustainable development.

Conference Sub-Themes

Submissions should align with one of the following areas:

  • Economic Transformation, Entrepreneurship, and Future Skills
  • Epistemic Justice, Social Justice, and Inclusive Knowledge Systems
  • Governance, Policy Reform, and Global Partnerships

  • Global Citizenship and Internationalisation
  • Climate Change, Energy Transitions, and Sustainable Development
