55th South African Society for Animal Science (SASAS) Congress

The University of Limpopo, in partnership with the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the University of Venda, is excited to announce the 55th Annual Congress of the South African Society for Animal Science (SASAS). This significant event will take place from July 8 to July 10, 2025, at the Protea Hotel, The Ranch, Polokwane.

To facilitate a smooth abstract submission process, authors are encouraged to create a congress user profile for both the submitting and presenting author at https://www.conftool.org/sasas2025. You can submit one or multiple abstracts from the submitting author’s profile, and modifications can be made up until the submission deadline.

Submission Deadline: March 6, 2025.

This year’s congress aims to explore a wide range of crucial topics in animal science, featuring engaging conference sessions such as keynote addresses, workshops, oral presentations, and poster sessions, along with a student quiz and debate.

We warmly invite researchers, academics, and industry professionals to contribute their valuable insights and findings. This congress presents an excellent opportunity to share your research with a diverse audience and partake in enriching discussions that can propel advancements in the field of animal science.

Abstract Submission Guidelines:

Abstract Format:


– Title: 12 point, bold, centered
– Authors: 11 point font, with the presenting author in bold
– Affiliation and Address: 10 point
– Corresponding Author: 10 point
– Font: Times New Roman
– Maximum Length: One page, formatted in 11-point font for the uploaded documents & 500 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 for the textbox on control

Abstract Content:

– Background: Provide the context of your research.
– Aim: Clearly state the hypothesis or research question.
– Methodology: Briefly describe the methods used in your study.
– Results & Discussion: Summarize key findings and their implications.
– Conclusion & Recommendations: Highlight the main conclusions and any recommendations for future research or applications.


Poster Specifications:


– Must be printed in A0 size (84 cm x 119 cm), laminated.
– Portrait (vertical) orientation only.
– Language: English.
– Recommended Fonts and Sizes:
– Main Title: Font size 100 or larger
– Sub-title: Font size 36
– Main Text: Minimum font size 28
– References: Minimum font size 24
– Limit to two font types for clarity and readability.
