The University of Limpopo Alumni and Convocation have pledged their full support to the University’s new Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Dr Jeffrey Mabelebele, affirming confidence in the institution’s leadership during a period of transition
During their visit to the University, speaking on behalf of the Alumni and Convocation, President Donald Selamolela extended a message of encouragement and unity to Dr. Mabelebele, who officially assumed office on January 1, 2026.
“We are in a transition, and transitions require collective support,” Selamolela said. “Every transition comes with uncertainty, but after meeting and engaging the Vice-Chancellor, we are reassured that the University is on the right path and that everything is progressing smoothly.”
Echoing this sentiment, Lekoko Nkadimeng, Chairperson of the UL Alumni and Convocation Limpopo Chapter, emphasised the importance of shared responsibility during this critical period.
“This transition is synchronised and calls for unity,” Nkadimeng said. “We urge all stakeholders, particularly alumni, staff and students, to rally behind the new leadership, especially during the registration period.”
Responding to the engagement, Dr Mabelebele welcomed the show of support from alumni leadership, describing it as a strong signal of institutional cohesion and shared purpose.
“The engagement with Alumni and Convocation leadership has been encouraging,” Dr Mabelebele said. “Registration is progressing well, with a significant number of returning and postgraduate students already registered. This reflects the resilience of the institution and the collective commitment to ensuring continuity and stability.”
