The University of Limpopo’s Department of Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education, part of the School of Education, is pleased to announce an upcoming Guest Lecture by the distinguished Dr. Duano Sapta Nusantara from Universitas Jambi, Indonesia. This event is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, 2026, and will take place from 08:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the R-40 Conference Hall.
Dr. Nusantara’s lecture will explore the compelling theme: “Transforming Mathematics Learning through Realistic Mathematics Education: Theory and Classroom Practice.” This topic promises to foster engaging discussions around innovative approaches to teaching and learning mathematics, drawing from both theoretical foundations and practical applications in educational settings.
Dr. Duano Sapta Nusantara is an accomplished educator and a current Lecturer at Universitas Jambi, where he has been teaching since 2024. His expertise is underscored by his extensive experience as a Research Assistant for the Research Collaboration Team of Graduate Mathematics Education at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sriwijaya, where he has been involved since 2018. His work includes serving as a reviewer for various scholarly journals focusing on Mathematics Education and being an active member of multiple editorial boards, including the Journal of Innovation in Mathematics, a recognized Indonesian publication.
With a remarkable record of scholarly contributions, Dr. Nusantara has published an impressive 59 papers in respected international journals and national accredited publications. Additionally, he has presented 14 papers at international conferences and authored 10 educational books. His innovations in teaching have led to the granting of 30 patents related to teaching and learning materials, which encompass a wide array of resources, including instructional videos.
Since 2015, Dr. Nusantara has led 24 workshops and webinars aimed at enhancing mathematics education. These initiatives include notable sessions such as the “Workshop on Lesson Study for Learning Community,” the “Webinar Indonesian Mathematics Educators Society,” and specialized topics covering Data Analysis, Mathematics Modelling, and Assessment in Realistic Mathematics Education.
Among his notable accolades, Dr. Nusantara was invited to speak at the prestigious PhD Talk at Deakin University, a reputable public university in Australia, in July 2024, further affirming his status as a thought leader in the field.
