The University of Limpopo (UL) is delighted to announce the launch of a distinguished book by the internationally acclaimed author, Professor Malegapuru Makgoba, scheduled for 12 December 2023. Renowned as a molecular immunologist, physician, public health advocate, academic, and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Professor Makgoba’s latest work reflects on South Africa’s transformation since the dawn of democracy.
Titled “Leadership for Transformation since the Dawn of Democracy,” Professor Makgoba’s book critically examines the downward spiral in national leadership and the impact of politics and media on South Africa’s current challenges. The book offers valuable insights into the issues of rudderless leadership, corruption, crime, violence, governance, economic growth, inequality, unemployment, and poverty.
Join the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of UL, Professor Mahlo Mokgalong, in conversation with Professor Makgoba. The dialogue will explore the insights and perspectives shared in the book, providing a crucial leadership lens for assessing South Africa’s transition from the unjust system of colonialism and apartheid to the promised constitutional land.
The event will be live-streamed on the University YouTube channel, and the University community, as well as the general public are encouraged to attend/ watch this enlightening dialogue and book launch, which promises thought-provoking insights into South Africa’s past, present, and future.
