The Faculty of Science and Agriculture, through the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, invites staff, students, researchers and members of the public to attend the 12th Archbishop Thabo Makgoba Lecture on Wednesday, 05 August 2026, at 10h00 in the Earth Sciences Building, University of Limpopo. This annual lecture continues to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue on issues that contribute to national development and community transformation.
This year’s lecture will be presented under the theme, “Skills Development and Rural Livelihoods,” highlighting the critical role of skills development in promoting sustainable rural economies, improving livelihoods and addressing socio-economic challenges facing communities. The discussion aims to inspire innovative thinking and encourage collaboration between academia, government, industry and society in advancing rural development.
The keynote address will be delivered by Ms Kenelilwe Naliana-Mabona, Sector Specialist: Agriculture and Agribusiness at the Public Investment Corporation (PIC). Drawing on her expertise in the agriculture and agribusiness sector, Ms Naliana-Mabona is expected to share valuable insights on strengthening skills development, supporting agricultural growth and creating opportunities that contribute to resilient and sustainable rural communities.
