The Aquaculture Research Unit (ARU) at the University of Limpopo, in collaboration with the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD), proudly invites aquaculture farmers from across the province to an empowering Aquaculture Farmers’ Workshop. The event will take place on 14 October 2025, from 09:00 to 15:00, at the Aquaculture Research Unit Boardroom, University of Limpopo.
Under the theme “Unlocking the Potential of Aquaculture in Limpopo Province,” the workshop aims to foster dialogue between farmers, researchers, and government stakeholders to advance sustainable aquaculture practices. It is a vital platform designed to connect knowledge from academic research with the practical realities faced by aquaculture farmers across Limpopo.
The workshop will provide a unique opportunity for farmers to share their daily challenges and propose collaborative solutions. With the support of LDARD, the event will feature participation from key institutions, including the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Environment, the Department of Water and Sanitation, LIMA, the Limpopo Department of Agriculture, and the Local Economic Development and Tourism (LEDET).
Through open engagement and collective learning, the event seeks to:
-
Create a direct communication platform between farmers and key stakeholders.
-
Provide access to valuable information, resources, and guidance to strengthen aquaculture enterprises.
-
Bridge the gap between research and practical implementation for sustainable aquaculture growth in the province.
This interactive gathering reaffirms the University of Limpopo’s commitment to driving agricultural innovation and community development through research-based solutions.
