The University of Limpopo is pleased to host a Data Analytics Public Lecture under the theme “Career Pathways in Data Analytics: Insights from Banking and Financial Services,” on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, from 11h30 to 13h00 on the Google Meet platform. This event forms part of the University’s efforts to broaden students’ and professionals’ understanding of emerging career opportunities in the digital economy.
The session aims to equip attendees with practical knowledge about the data analytics field. The lecture will explore key industry opportunities, essential skills required, and real-world insights from the banking and financial sector. Participants can expect valuable guidance to help them navigate and position themselves within this rapidly growing field.
The lecture will feature Mr Sammy Machethe, a seasoned Data Analytics Manager at Standard Bank with extensive experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics within the financial services sector. Mr Machethe is also actively involved in academic and community development through his contributions as an industry guest lecturer and advisory committee member in the Department of Informatics at the Tshwane University of Technology. He is an alumnus of the University of Limpopo, where he completed his degree in Computer Science.
