The University of Limpopo’s Department of Social Work proudly invites staff, students, and the broader university community to a Public Lecture titled “Digitization in Social Work in the era of 4IR: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future of Training and Practice.” The event will take place on Friday, 17 October 2025, at TA starting from 09h00.
This thought-provoking session will be presented by Professor Z. Zimba from the University of Johannesburg, a distinguished scholar and practitioner whose work explores the intersection of technology and social work practice. As the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) continues to transform professional fields across the globe, this lecture seeks to unpack how digital innovation is reshaping social work education, training, and service delivery.
Participants will gain insights into the evolving role of technology in enhancing social work effectiveness, addressing ethical considerations, and bridging gaps in service provision. The lecture will also explore practical ways to prepare future social workers for a digitally driven world while maintaining the core human values of the profession.
